Baroda, May 10: The Central Bank of India has decided to focus on personal banking to cater to requirements of individual customers, according to the bank's general manager, commercial (credit) G Gupta.Addressing a gathering after the inauguration of computerised Subhanpura personal banking branch here on Wednesday, Gupta said personal banking had emerged as an important sector because the customer base was vast in this sector and had potential for consistent growth of business.
He said following liberalisation and opening up of markets, it had become imperative for the bank to segmentise its branches to suit the needs of its customers. The personal banking portfolio would help the bank to retain and improve its market shares in business.
The bank had already identified 88 branches for their conversion to personal banking branches including those in Vadodara, Surat, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Jamnagar in Gujarat.
