Record volumes at Zee counter

MAY 10: The Zee Tele counter on the bourses saw record volumes on Wednesday. At the end of the day, the combined volume for the Zee scrip was at 1.62 crore with the stock closing at the 12 per cent lower circuit limit on both the exchanges. While on the BSE, the Zee scrip closed at Rs 620.80 with 65.81 lakh shares changing hands, on the NSE, the corresponding figures were Rs 624 and 96 lakh shares.

According to market rumours, Capital International and Morgan Stanley were the sellers in the counter. However, this could not be confirmed. The investor perception vis-a-vis the company changed overnight after the media house failed to meet investor expectations in its fiscal 2000 results. On Tuesday, the Zee scrip on the BSE had closed frozen at the upper circuit limit of Rs 705 on expectations of very good results which was to be announced later in the day.
