New Delhi, May 12: The Union department of Bio-technology has launched a Website for e-biotech commerce with the address www.ebc.nic.in. The Department of Science and Technology has also launched its separate Website with the address www.techno-preneur.net.These two Websites were inaugurated by the Union Minister for Science and Technology, Murli Manohar Joshi on the Technology Day being celebrated on May 11.
The Website for bio-technology is a government source of information on bio-technologies and markets in India related to agriculture, healthcare, animal husbandry, environment, industry, and socio-economic development. The Website has been established to provide basic information about bio-tech developed in Indian laboratories, market potential, guidelines for technology transfer, government incentives, procedures, policy and project appraisals. The site is also excepted to serve as an interactive forum for scientists, entrepreneurs, financial institutions, NGOs, international bodies and other government agencies involved in promotion of bio-industrial development in India.
The Website of the Department of Science and Technology has detailed guidelines on how to start up an enterprise. The information given includes the legal aspects involved, information on general and sector specific policies covering state and national level regulations, incentive schemes available to entrepreneurs both at central and state levels, etc. On this occasion, Joshi also presented five National awards for bio-technology of Rs 50,000 each and one award for science and technology of Rs 1 lakh.
