El Net-3L plans recast, to float IPO by year-end

Kohinoor Mandal
Calcutta, May 12: EL Net-3L Pvt Ltd will be restructured into three divisions before it comes out with an initial public offering at the end of the year and gets transformed into a public limited company, according to company president Indrajit Singh.

El Net-3L is promoted by three engineer entrepreneurs from IIT, Kharagpur. Singh was addressing reporters at a press conference marking the launch of an e-jobs training programme with assured placements in 70 centres spread all over the country. He said El Net-3L will soon set up a web development wing. "The three divisions of the company will be education, service providing section and the placement wing. The service-providing division will start with web development and then move on to e-commerce solutions, where we will concentrate on setting up and maintenance of portals," Singh said.

El Net-3L has already had a letter of intent for the development of 10 such portals offering e-commerce facilities. The company will also expand its network by increasing the number of centres from the existing 70 to 100 by the end of this financial year.

"By this month end we would be opening two centres in Bangladesh and centres are also being planned for south-east Asia, Australia and South Africa," Singh said. He added that the company proposes to fund its expansion activities from its internal accurals and thereafter investments will be sought from a venture capital fund.

"Currently we are evaluating our company and after the venture capital investment, we may go to the market. The IPO may be rolled out by year-end but there are other factors which have to be considered too," Singh added without explaining. El Net-3L has a sister concern called Alumnus Software which is engaged in software development. The company will soon launch a fresh website and offer online academic facilities. Singh said that although the basic course will be run on the Net, a substantial portion of it will be taught in the classroom.
