Industrial production vaults to 8%

Spurt in the manufacturing sector pushed up industrial growth to 8 per cent in the last fiscal, against 3.9% in 1998-99. As per the quick estimates released here on Friday by the Central Statistical Organisation, the index of industrial production (IIP) grew by 8.6 per cent in March, against 4.4% in March 1999.
