Shoes, by appointment only

HUMA SIDDIQUI
It's the latest idea in footwear. A by-appointment-only shoe shop, tucked away from the maddening market crowd in Greater Kailash, Shoemaarker is trying to make a fashion statement that is compatible to the reigning international styles.

Borrowing the expertise of accessory designers from Italy and France, the shop creates shoes that are not just sleek, light-weight and comfortable to wear, but also in vogue globally. Rakesh Bhutani, the brain behind the label, takes care that each and every component of the footwear is carefully selected and conceived to give maximum comfort to the wearer. ``Right from selecting the product design, blending it into a transfusion of exotic leather and soles to other hidden inputs... we at Shoemaarker are aware of every element involved in retailing quality footwear,'' he says.

Bhutani came up with the Shoemaarker collection to address the total vacuum in quality footwear for women in the Capital. ``Women are ardent buyers of footwear. I would always see my wife and friends investing in bags full of shoes when they went abroad. Since our business has a lot to do with exports, I thought why not bring in international designs and shoe-making to the Indian market?'' The shop has a vibrant colour palette ranging from exotics like pink, green blue, silver, gold and copper to all-time favourites like black and brown. Shopping at the Shoemaarker is an experience. The quiet ambience and ample space give customers a comfortable ambience in which to select the right footwear. ``The shoes are not high priced. All the shoes here are mostly designer stuff, like the ones you see in the European markets, we try making them here for our customers,'' Bhutani says. The range starts from Rs 700 and goes up to Rs 2,500.

The buzzword in the shoe business is style with substance. The shape of teh shoe follows the actual shape of the customer's foot, thus making it comfort personified, adds Bhutani.

Innovation with personalised care and smart styles, Shoemaarker is all set to get into your shoes.
