'Mumbai, May 15: Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) chairman DR Mehta was today elected chairperson of Emerging Markets Committee (EMC) of International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) for a two year tenure.Following his election to head the EMC, which has 66 member countries/jurisdictions, Mehta also becomes a member of the executive committee, the highest policy making body of IOSCO, Sebi said in a release here.
Similarly, he would also be a member of the Technical Committee of IOSCO, which comprises members from the developed capital markets of the world, it added. Mehta, currently chairman of Asia Pacific Regional Committee (APRC) of IOSCO, would lay down from the post on completion of his term tomorrow.
