Automatrixindia.com -- Escorts subsidiary ties up with Vistaar

New Delhi: Esconet Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Escorts Ltd, has joined hands with Vistaar, a global NetMarket developer and i2 Technologies, a leading provider of intelligent eBusiness solutions, to develop and operate Automatrixindia.com -a B2B marketplace for the Rs 50,000 crore automotive industry.

The group is planning to also set up a portal each for health and wireless Internet services, besides venturing into ISP services.

"The portal will have a total capitalisation of Rs 25 crore over a period of two to three years", Sandeep Tungare, CEO Vistaar told newspersons here on Monday. Automatrixindia will cater to all trading needs of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), suppliers, dealers, banks, logistics providers, among others in the automobile industry. The portal which will be launched in the third quarter of this year and is looking for more partners to join the venture. "We are in talks with all leading OEMs", Raymond Teh, president Asia Pacific i2 Technologies Pte Ltd said.

He refused to give details of the OEMs. The business to business automotive market consists of more than 30,000 suppliers and 10,000 dealer locations and millions of unique part numbers. Automatrixindia will simplify and streamline the linkages within the supply chain of the industry.

Rajan Nanda, chairman Escorts group, said Automatrixindia will provide both OEMs and component manufacturers an efficient online and neutral marketplace to locate, negotiate, order and fulfill automotive purchasesThis would be a neutral exchange or a first public portal which will be a one-stop shop and will open up opportunities to access suppliers and buyers in other markets like south east Asia, Japan and Europe through i2's TradeMatrix portal, which provides marketplace to marketplace connectivity, he added. When the new partners join up, they will contribute to the equity of the venture and add value to it, a top company official said. Later, the new partners will join at a slight premium.

Automatrixindia will put India on the eBusiness world map of the automotive industry and will enable every participant in the supply chain to increase efficiency while creating value and higher satisfaction for their customers.

Automatrixindia will be powered by i2's TradeMatrix solutions. i2 will provide the solution and implementation support, Vistaar will contribute horizontal marketplace technologies and implementation and marketing support to the venture. As an initial partner, the Escorts group proposes to put all its purchase and sales transactions of about Rs 2,000 crore through the portal. Teh said that over $7.5 billion in value has been added in the supply chain area worldwide.
