MUL kicks off Wagon R spot-the-ideas contest

New Delhi: Maruti Udyog Ltd has kicked off a Wagon R spot-the-ideas contest, which will involve participants test-driving the Wagon R and identifying for themselves the top ten ideas that make the Wagon R Japan's largest-selling car.

The contest is being conducted to celebrate the selling of 10,000 units of Wagon R within the short span of 100 days since its debut in the domestic market. The contest will run nationwide at all Maruti showrooms from May 29-June 20, 2000, according to a Maruti press release. The contest centres on the Wagon R's positioning as the `Car full of ideas'.

After the test-drive, participants will be given contest forms wherein 10 ideas will be listed which have to be ranked in order of priority according to their assessment. The contest also involves completing a slogan at the end of the form. Among all the entries with the winning order, the person with the best slogan gets to drive away in a Wagon R. There are also hundreds of other prizes to be won.

MUL chief general manager Rohtash Mal said: ``We firmly believe that the Wagon R will emerge as the market leader in India in a very short time, just as it has sustained unprecedented leadership in Japan.''
