Hathway to launch Net-over-cable in three weeks
Hathway Cable and Datacom Pvt Ltd will be introducing Internet and other value-added services over cable in three weeks time in Chennai. Thereafter over intervals of three months, the services will be taken to Bangalore, Hyderabad, Vishakapatnam. An investment of Rs 25 crore to Rs 40 crore is expected in each city. Services such as radio on Net, education through Net, retailing will also be introduced.S C Sen appointed chairperson of Telecom Disputes Settlement Tribunal
Justice S C Sen (Retd) has been appointed as the full-time chairperson of the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal. The appointment is for three years from the date on which he enters upon his office or until he attains the age of 70 years whichever is earlier. The Tribunal will adjudicate any dispute between a licensor and a licencee between two or more service providers, between a service providers and group of consumers and to hear and dispose of appeals against any director's decision or order of TRAI.
Mantra Online announces new tariff rates
Caving in to the fierce Internet rate war, Mantra Online has announced four new packages under the Mantra Lifetime brand. Under this new scheme, the user gets a Net account for life but with a restriction on hours, and the uasge time may be doubled if the Internet access is between 10 pm to 8 am, a Mantra statement said in New Delhi. Terming it the "first tariff plan of its kind in the ISP market, it said 25 hours would cost Rs 199 (doubled to 50 hours if the usage is at night); Rs 499 for 75 hours; Rs 799 for 150 hours and Rs 2,199 for 500 hours.
Messe Frankfurt (India) takes Indian IT `Pavilion' to Germany
Indian IT providers finally have the chance to gain a foothold in Germany, thanks to the initiative of Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt Ltd, which has created a platform for them at the European Banking Technology Fair.
Both as a trade shows for specialists and as a conference, this fair is the leading event for the finance sector in Germany and Europe. An-net Infotech launches two office suites
An-net Infotech, a software development and e-commerce services company, has announced the launch of two office offerings called COMWO and Mail Manager as part of its Intranet-based solutions. These offerings developed in-house by the company at its development facility in New Delhi, are aimed at SME users to enable them to manage their knowledge base. and communicate effectively as well.
