Rediff.com to list on Nasdaq before June 15
Rediff.com is likely to list its shares on the Nasdaq exchange before June 15 through its proposed $75 million American Depository Shares (ADSs). According to top investment banking sources, Rediff.com is sticking to the initial plan of $75 million issue and a formal announcement is expected on Thursday. Reports had suggested that Rediff.com, the first Indian Internet portal to seek listing on the US markets, has plans to double its issue size to $150 million. Ajit Balakrishnan, ceo of Rediff.com was not available for comment as he is out of the country.Microsoft set to unveil SQL 2000 in September
Microsoft is planning to launch SQL Server 2000, which is being touted as the Microsoft's reply to Oracle 8i. According to Daniel Ingitaraj, marketing manager, India sub-continet, Microsoft, SQL 2000 (code name: Shiloh), which is a relational database management server (RDBMS), is being developed in the US and will be ready for release by September. The previous version, SQL server 7.0, which was released in 1998, was a major architecture release for Microsoft.
DishnetDSL's new scheme targets women, children
Net access tariff war is getting stiffer. DishnetDSL, which slashed its rates and announced two new packages on May 15, on Wednesday launched another dial-up Internet access scheme targeting women and children. Under the scheme, Dishnet will offer one-hour free Internet access daily for five years for an upfront payment of Rs 250. The scheme will be valid for those registering during June 2000 and will be available in all DishnetDSL hub centers.
CII to set up B2B portal with UNIDO
CII in association with UNIDO will set up a B2B portal which will serve as a database of Indian companies wanting to supply items to companies in India and abroad. "The portal will ultimately have around 30,000 companies listed on the site and any company either in India or abroad can access the site and select a supplier," national coordinator for the portal R C Bhargava said at a round table organised by CII on Wednesday. The portal would be called the SPX.
Apollo-Trade2 gain in strategic pact
Trade2gain.com, a B2B Internet auction marketplace, has entered into a strategic partnership with Apollo Hospitals group to provide Internet-based solutions to the healthcare industry in India including hospitals, nursing homes, medical infrastructure manufacturers, medical equipment suppliers and pharmaceutical companies.
Ministry puts Web page on WTO issues
Commerce ministry said on Wednesday that it was putting up separate Web pages on important World Trade Organisation (WTO) issues as part of its wide-ranging consultation process with industry.
