New Nicco Parks likely at Delhi, Hyderabad and Uganda

Kohinoor Mandal
Calcutta, June 7: Nicco Parks & Resorts Ltd is likely to open its first overseas venture at Uganda apart from setting up new parks in Delhi, Hyderabad and Durgapur at West Bengal. According to Rajive Kaul, who is a director of Nicco Parks, the company has been approached by several organisations to set up these amusement parks. "For Delhi and Hyderabad, we have participated in a tender called by the local authorities. However, for the other two we have received proposals for setting up parks," Kaul told The Financial Express.

For the Durgapur park, Nicco Parks was approached by Asansol Durgapur Development Authority and for the one proposed in Uganda the interested party is a local private sector company. Nicco has two amusements park. The first is at Salt Lake near Calcutta and the second at Bhubaneswar. The second park has been set up in collaboration with the Bhubaneswar Development Authority about a year back.

"We would like to go along with the local bodies for the amusement park. It helps us a lot. However, if the Uganda project comes through then it will not only be our first overseas venture but also the first with a private party," Kaul said. He added that parks and resorts will be Nicco's future growth sector.
