Central Bank lends Rs 2,003 cr to farm sector

Mumbai, June 7: Central Bank of India has recorded a 38 per cent growth in total agricultural advances at Rs 2,003 crore for the year ended March 31, 2000, as compared to the previous year. The bank had identified 160 branches in different states of the country for intensive agricultural lending, it said in a release here on Wednesday.Under the special agricultural credit plan, it disbursed Rs 794 crore in 1999-2000, the bank said adding, in 2000-01 it plans to disburse Rs 990 crore. Central Bank also issued a total of 24,291 Kisan Credit Cards during the period thereby extending credit card facility to rural bank customers.
