Command offers roaming facility in America

Sunil Mukhopadhyay
Calcutta, June 8: Command, one of the two cellular phone service providers here, has launched roaming services in the east coast of the USA with voice stream, according to a company press release. Since the US operators have different standards, Command has initiated the facility in association with signaling converter Teleglobe of Canada. Command subscribers can now make and receive calls on their Command numbers while roaming in the east coast of the US. They will be billed in Indian rupees.

At present, the service will cover 13 states - Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. Command has also signed up with an American alliance of 7 GSM 1900 operators to extend the services for the rest of the USA where the GSM networks are available.
