Timofonica worm not a threat to e-biz, says CA
Computer Associates has said that the recently discovered Timofonica' worm does not pose a critical threat to e-businesses or the telecom infrastructure. Timofonica is a VBS worm that was found by CA and is spread by e-mail and arrives with the subject Timofonica. The text of the email is written in Spanish and reads `Es de todos ya conocido el monpolio de Telefonica pero no tan'.

3Com unveils Total Control 2000 multiservice access platform
3Com Corporation, a leading provider of carrier-class systems for delivering Internet Protocol (IP)-based enhanced services, has unveiled its next-generation Total Control 2000 multiservice access platform at the Supercomm 2000 show in Atlanta. The Total Control 2000 platform is a carrier-class, high-density multiservice platform that will support a variety of access media, including narrowband data services, IP telephony, wireless data, and broadband services. The platform migrates from circuit-switched networks to more efficient IP networks. Customer trials of the Total Control 2000 platform are expected to begin in January 2001.

BPL Mobile expanding its cellular phone network
BPL Mobile has added another centre to its network when chief minister, Vilasrao Deshmukh made the inaugural call to BPL's chairman Rajeev Chandrashekhar at Latur. Latur, a major trading hub in the Marathwada region is the 17th district headquarter in the state and the 56th city in the region to be linked through the BPL network. Speaking on the occasion, Chandrashekhar announced that his company would soon be launching scholarship schemes for tenth and twelfth pass students from the economically backward class for further studies.Chandrashekar said that BPL would also launch Internet services in Latur in the near future.

Bharti Mobile floats node tech- based cellular card
Bharti Mobile Ltd has launched its `magic', a new generation ready cellular card in Karnataka based on the service node technology for the first time in the state. Briefing newsmen on the occasion company's chief operating officer Deepak Gulati said that the product was aimed at providing easy access to cellphones by the subscribers without any hassles.
