Qsupport to get $5 million in VC funding

Bangalore, June 9: The Bangalore-based Qsupport.com, a personalised e-mailand Internet help provider is getting around $5 million in venture capitalfunds, according to the company's chief operating officer NisheethSrivastava. The funds are expected to come in within a fortnight.

Srivastava told eFE that the major chunk of the fresh funds would beused to enhance the intellectual property of the company besides improvingknowledge and data base. Investments would also be made towardsinfrastructure including leased lines and ISDN (Integrated Switching DataNetwork) access. About 10 per cent of the funds would be earmarked foradvertisement and promotional activities, he said.

When the company was floated six months ago, it a received seed capital of$1 million from NRI investors from Switzerland, US and some angelinvestors.

Srivastava said, in order to provide online connectivity with its clients(mostly corporates), the company was currently in the process of developinga product which would facilitate remote login facility. ``The beta versionof the product will be out by the end of the month while by August we willintroduce the complete suite of the product,'' he said.

He said the company was also gearing up to handle 5000 queries a day. Sinceits inception, the company received 12,000 queries online from across 25countries.

Currently, the company was in talks with a large number of portals dotcomsin the system integration ISP area who have plans to outsource Qsupport'sservices, he said. ``We are in talks with three big portals in the US,'' hesaid.

Srivastava said plans were also afoot for the company to enter into thee-commerce area to connect vendors of various software, hardware, tutorials,anti-virus tools, add-on cards, etc, to buyers. ``We will foray into thee-com areas within six months'' he said.
