Calcutta, June 9: Srei Capital Markets Ltd, a leading infrastructure advisory company, has undertaken to negotiate between information technology companies in eastern India and new venture capitalists. The projects already in hand include helping to arrange funds for the second phase of Globsyn's Infinity and the upcoming portals for Caltiger. In the next phase, Srei will also help them to open public issues. Of late, Srei has been appointed as a consultant to the Rs 300-crore real estate project of Asansol Durgapur Development Authority, slated to be completed in the next two years. The project includes development and project financing of industrial estates, residential township, commercial complex, entertainment plaza and low-cost housing estates. The project will be developed by Srei on a BOT basis using special purpose vehicles, where ADDA will participate as SPV partner in all policy matters regarding SPV's operations and project implementation. "Other partners will be Srei, the government of West Bengal and other engineering farms which may be roped in later," said Subroto Ghosh, principal consultant of Srei. "Though the West Bengal government has not formally joined as a partner, we have submitted a written application, and they have agreed on principle." Srei has been entrusted with preparing a master plan and a water master plan for ADDA, assisting in restructuring and constructing an appropriate water supply and distribution system for Asansol and Durgapur. Experts in Singapore are being consulted, and talks are on with a French farm for the water supply project. "We will also be involved in the construction and development of an entertainment plaza, including and IT and business hub at Durgapur," said Ghosh. By this weekend, Srei will initiate the pre-feasibility study for the project. Other infrastructure projects will include a 300-350-bed hospital along with medical college facility and an international or public school. Srei is also collaborating with IISWBM for a hospital project. Copyright © 2000 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
