Mumbai, June 9: Though India is obsessed with information technology revolution, it has not given a go-by to the emerging field of bio-technology in terms of importance, Union Minister for Inforamtion Technology Pramod Mahajan said on Friday."I agree that India is obsessed with IT, but bio-technology is one of our priorities. We also want to lead that revolution, and Murli Manohar Joshi is working towards that," he said after distribution of BSE Corporate Awards 2000 here.
The US grows as it is a country of opportunities and India would do good to follow suit in creating opportunites. the minister said. Indians must change their mindset from considering "poverty to be a virtue" to acknowledging the importance of wealth creation by inidviduals for the prosperity of the nation, he added.
He also stressed the importance of support of brick economy to click economy for achieving overall prosperity.
State Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said that the state was trying to fulfil its responsibility of providing the right environment for industrial growth, and was doing its best to keep up its leadership position.
Infosys Technologies, Dr Reddy's Labs and Zee Telefilms were presented the Best Corporate Governance, Best Investor Friendliness and Maximisation of Shareholders' Wealth awards respectively.
