Sensex outlook mixed till 4900 points

Deepak Singh Tanwar
The market remained weak on Friday. While the new economy stocks like Satyam Computer, Zee Tele, and Infosys remained weak, Reliance, and ITC managed to attact buying. However, other counters like L&T, MTNL, SBI showed negative close, and had an impact on the Sensex. It lost 47 points, and the continued the downtrend.

The current position of the Sensex suggests that the outlook will be mixed unless the level of 4900 points is crossed. On the downside, it has supports at 4600 points, and 4550 points respectively. A fall below these levels would be bad for its short-term health.

Individually, HLL showed a corrective fall on Friday. For the future, the stock is likely to face resistance at around Rs 2,950, and the next hurdle is at around Rs 3,200.

As for Infosys, the outlook is not very promosing as the uptrend is showing signs of a slowdown. The medium-term position will weaken below Rs 7,900.

Meanwhile, Reliance maintained the utprend. For this stock, the medium-term support is at Rs 228, and the resistance exists at Rs 355. Either side move will determine the medium-term direction of the stock. The chances of an uptrend, however, appear bright at this juncture.

ITC too done well on Friday, and remained firm. The stock has formed a short-term resistance at Rs 800 above, which the short-term position would improve further. For the medium-term, the next hurdle exists at Rs 900. For Satyam Computers, the outlook will turn bearish below Rs 2,750. The immediate suppurt for the stock is at Rs 2,900. While the immediate resistance is at Rs 3,100, the last hurdle for the stock is at Rs 3,500. The position of Zee Tele is far from impressive.

The medium term outlook will improve only above Rs 580 whereas short-term position may show an improvement above Rs 480.For NIIT, a strong base exists at Rs 2,050 below which can be used as stop loss for long position.Meanwhile, Bhel, SBI, ACC, and MTNL are likely to show a weak trend in the coming weak. While cyclicals are likey to remain weak in the next few days, the outlook for the software also far from impressive.
