Clinton and Blair to take questions in online townhall meeting
Baltimore: US President Bill Clinton and British Prime Minister Tony Blair plan to take questions from Internet users around the globe, during a trans-Atlantic online town hall meeting next month, organisers have said. Clinton is scheduled to participate in the July 14 "Webcast" from a hotel in Baltimore's inner harbour, where he is to attend a Democratic Leadership Council meeting. Blair will appear from his country retreat in Britain. The format is similar to an online question-and-answer session Clinton held from the White House last year, also organised by the DLC. During that November 8 event, computer users could see Clinton's image, albeit slightly herky-jerky, hear his voice and send his questions via e-mail. Clinton took a couple of dozen questions about politics and legislative policy and one from an Internet user in Britain, who asked whether Clinton would like to run for a third term, as he could do under Britain's parliamentary system. A somewhat wistful Clinton replied that he respected the American two-term limitation. -- AP Copyright © 2000 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
