Aurangabad, July 2: Government on Sunday said the Department of Telecom Services (DTS) would leverage its existing communication infrastructure in the country to launch its software technology park (STP) operations by October this year."The DTS has a state-of-the-art communication infrastructure in place which it would leverage to foray into STP business before it gets corporatised in October," Shyamal Ghosh, secretary, Department of Telecommunication, told PTI on the sidelines of `Fibrecomm-2000' here.
Ghosh said the department would join hands with various state governments for launching its STP operations in the country to provide state-of-the-art data connectivity to software companies across India. Under the upcoming venture DTS would bring strong communication infrastructure to the alliance while the state governments would provide the land and building for the STP facility.
Ghosh, however, declined to give the number of STPs that the department would target in the first year or the locations at which the DTS parks would come up.
