Ranchi, July 3: The Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) has recorded a promising growth in coal production, overburden removal and other operational parameters during the first quarter of the current financial year.The growth in performance right from the beginning of the new financial year is the result of a series of measures implemented and being pursued vigorously for improving mine condition, equipment condition, operational efficiency, safety standards and quality of coal, a company release said.CCL began the new financial year with a target of increasing its last year's production of 32.40 million tonnes by two million tonnes and consolidating the gains made in other operational areas last year to secure a place among the profit making public sector undertakings.
In the first quarter of the current fiscal (April-June) alone CCL according to the release, has recorded an increase of 6.33 lakh tonnes or 11 per cent in coal production over the corresponding period last year. Actual production during the period under review has been 6.464 milion tonnes as against 5.811 million tonnes of the previous year.
Overburden removal during the first quarter also increased by about 18 lakh cubic metres or about 18 per cent, paving the way for keeping up the production tempo in opencast mines in the remaining months of the year. The total quantum of overburden was removed during April-June this year was 11.979 million cubic metres as against 10.182 million cubic metres during the corresponding period last year, the release added.
Loading of coal into rail wagon has also increased this year as compared to the previous year.
The daily average loading was 3030 wagons (fwws) during April-June this year as against 2891 wagons (fwws) last year, showing an increase of (139 lagons per day) a rake per day.
The total despatches of coal during April- June 2000 went up by 67,000 tonnes over the corresponding period last year.
The despatches during April June this year totalled 8.065 million tonnes as against 7.998 million tonnes during the corresponding period last year.Productivity during the period under review went up from last year's level of 1.61 tonnes to 1.90 tonnes, showing a growth of 15.7 per cent.
