Mumbai, July 10: A sharp fall in other income has led credit rating agency Crisil to suffer a 33.94 per cent decline in its net profit to Rs 2.20 crore during the first quarter ended June 30, 2000 as against Rs 3.33 crore posted during the corresponding period in the previous year.Total income increased a meagre 6.67 per cent to Rs 10.36 crore as compared to Rs 9.72 crore. Income from operations grew by 19.14 per cent to Rs 10.27 crore from Rs 8.62 crore. Other income, however, fell 91.6 per cent to Rs nine lakh as compared to Rs 1.09 crore in the previous year.
"Other income was lower due to utilisation of treasury for acquisition of the business of Information Products & Research Services India Pvt Ltd along with its brand `Infac' and purchase of new office premises. The company, however, expects to make up the same by building up treasury through sale of existing premises," a Crisil release said on Monday. Total expenditure rose by 32.38 per cent to Rs 5.67 crore as compared to Rs 4.28 crore. Gross profit declined by 13.55 per cent to Rs 4.70 crore from Rs 5.43 crore.
The rating agency provided higher depreciation of Rs 1.40 crore, which is 120 per cent higher than Rs 6.36 crore in the previous year. Provision for taxation declined by 25.23 per cent to Rs 1.10 crore as against Rs 1.47 crore.
"The company registered satisfactory performance despite significant reduction in the size of rated debt market," the press release said."Considerable progress has been made in the new Crisil-Naredco initiative on rating of real estate projects and developers launched last year with view to enhance transparency in real estate market transactions. Crisil has begun work on assignments out-sourced from partners abroad. In the securitisation segment, mortgaged backed securities (MBS) and collateralised loan obligations (CLO) instruments are expected to be launched shortly and Crisil expects improved business prospects for the same," it added.
