BuyAsOne.com lures buyers with lower prices

Jaidev Majumdar
Calcutta, July 19: The more, the merrier. That's what online shopping portal BuyAsOne.com is offering Calcuttans. The portal, which has already launched services in other cities, says that prices are marked down on the basis of the number of buyers seeking it. Shopping through BuyAsOne.com can save a consumer as many as 10 to 15 per cent on the price tag carried by a particular item. The company puts its revenue earning principle very simply.

When more number of people shop for a particular product, the price fall for each product. "In the last two months we have sold goods worth Rs 40 lakh which include a plasma TV that we sold in New Delhi. This surprised us tremendously and speak volumes on the popularity we are gaining each day." observes Hema Parameswaran CEO Synesis online. BuyAsOne.com offers a wide range of products for its customers from consumer durables, electronic goods, home appliances to lifestyle products. The products are being delivered in 12 cities in India including Bangalore, Mumbai, New Delhi and Calcutta.

Buyers can go to www.BuyAsOne.com, choose a product and check out its SmartCycle, which indicates the MRP, current price and savings. If the buyer feels that the price is competitive enough, he clicks "buy". The buyer can also decide to wait for the price to decline further. The final purchase is made by filling up an online order form and paying a nominal amount via credit card. The final payment is made after delivery, which is handled by Safexpress. The SmartCycle, a trademarked concept, makes prices fall as more customers pick a product. "Unlike our competitors Rediff and jaldi.com, we are more focussed on our products," she said.
