Tektronix on Wednesday appointed Ashok Kapoor as the new managing director for its South Asian operations, a company release said. Early this year, Tektronix completed its transition from a portfolio of businesses to a focussed test, measurement and monitoring company. Tektronix executed a growth strategy and recorded $1 billion in sales revenue for fiscal 2000.
Clarification
This is with reference to the article "Siemens targets state governments for WAN switches' sales" dated July 13, 2000. The company would like to clarify that while Siemens' has bagged the orders from state governments like Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal, the Gujarat Government project is still in the tendering stage. The error is regretted.

Lien is vice president, H-P Asia-Pacific
Siaou-Sze Lien has taken over as vice president and general manager of Hewlett-Packard Asia Pacific. Lien succeeds Richard Warmington, who announced his intention to retire from H-P. She will represent H-P's business activities in Asia Pacific and will also spearhead the ongoing planning and execution of the company's re-invention process.
SingNet forms e-commerce alliance with Japanese provider Nifty
SingNet, Singapore's largest Internet service provider, said on Wednesday that it has teamed up with Nifty Corp of Japan to expand e-commerce services in both countries. The partnership would allow customers of SingNet, a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (SingTel), to surf the Web while in Japan while Nifty clients in Singapore could do the same, a SingTel statement said. Both companies will host each other's Web contents.
