After IQ and EQ, it's now Spiritual Quotient

A D PRADEEP KUMAR
After intelligence quotient (IQ) and emotional quotient (EQ), it is now theturn of the spiritual quotient (SQ). Western authors like Danah Zohar andIan Mitchell are increasingly considering spiritual intelligence as the mostimportant attribute of a human being and the foundation for both IQ andEQ.

Corporates are also increasingly falling on spiritual awakening programmes, retreats, ethic camps, soul searching camps and transcendental meditationworkshops for the spiritual development of their employees.

The renewed interest in spiritual training can be traced to the rigors andcomplexities of the modern, competitive working environment, which breedstress, tension and complexes among employees.

Mangeshda's Institute of Spiritual Awakening, founded by Mangesh Vadhavkar, who is popularly called Mangeshda, has designed a number of programmes tohelp modern-day man lead an active life, realising his hidden spiritualpotential.

With 43 centres in India and abroad, the Institute of Spiritual Awakeningconducts unique personality development programmes like Self-Recognition andDevelopment (SRD), Stress Management, Core Enlightenment, Meditation, Reikiand Satsangs.

"The Self Recognition and Development programme encourages a person todevelop his own personality, and bring out the unique qualities lyingunrealised in him. Every individual has some good traits as well as badtraits. Instead of copying others, the course teaches one how to developone's good traits and overcome the bad ones," says Mangeshda."Self-contemplation of `What I am' changes the whole perspective towardslife," he explains.

The programme includes practical sessions on public speaking and interactiverole-play to understand the roots of problems. These sessions break open thegrip of complexes, nervousness, tension and stress and help to buildself-confidence.

The training is primarily on how to preserve energies and use them todevelop the innermost potential of the body, mind and soul. An understandingand practice of the same enables one to tackle any kind of negativity andface tough situations with ease in day to day life. The SRD programme catersto the overall development of persons of all ages.

The Core Enlightenment programme is an intense residential training course. Here, the participants are taught to totally disconnect themselves from theouter world, work over their negative emotions hidden deep within andprepare themselves to experience tranquility and peace of mind. The specialmeditation techniques are simple, effective and effortless so that anybodycan easily practise them. There are no restrictions of posture, dress, time, place, etc. The institute has also brought out meditation cassettes toenable people to practise the art at home.pThe institute has designed its stress management programmes in such a mannerthat anyone and everyone can learn to reduce stress and enjoy life. TheSatsangs are spiritual discourses by Mangeshda. Instead of being merefollowers, he exhorts people to come forward and experience unity with theDivine Energy.
