Adani turnover rises 20 per cent in Q1
Adani Exports Ltd (AEL) has posted a 20 per cent rise in turnover during the first quarter of the current fiscal to Rs 640.52 crores, against Rs 533.60 crores during the corresponding period last year. The trading house's net profit has gone up by 70 per cent to Rs 27.71 crore from Rs 16.30 crore over the same period. According to a company release, its 600 tonne per day capacity edible oil refinery project being implemented by Adani Wilmar Ltd, is expected to be operational by 2000-end. The earning per share works out to Rs 50.27 on an annualised basis on the increased capital after 1:1 bonus issue in the last fiscal.

B4U ties-up with Norwegian firm
B4U Network has tied up with Telenor Plus AS, to distribute their music and channels in Nordic countries, Europe and the UK via direct-to-home and cable from early August.B4U chairman and chief executive officer Kishore Lulla in a statement said the service would initially be provided free to air but would be encrypted within a month of the launch.

Blue Star net up 20%
Blue Star has posted a 20.15 per cent hike in net profit at Rs 3.16 crore for the first three months of the current fiscal, against Rs 2.63 crore in the same period last year. Net sales rose to Rs 106.84 crore from Rs 98.59 crore.

Birla Yamaha net up 10%
Birla Yamaha has recorded a 10 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 2.26 crore for the first quarter of the current fiscal compared with Rs 2.06 crore during the corresponding period last year. Net sales for the period stood at Rs 19.59 crore, against Rs 18.14 crore in the previous year. The company has also introduced a new range of generators under the brand name Birla Ecogen. The new genset, the company said, meets all the emission norms laid down by the Central Pollution Control Board.

DCW joins hands with HLL
The board of DCW has decided to enter into strategic alliance with Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL) for manufacture of detergents. The board of directors of DCW, in its meeting here on Tuesday, approved the proposal of having manufacturing alliance with HLL in detergents. The company's gross margins continued under pressure due to over capacity in the industry and intense competition among the domestic producers.
