Govt issues LoIs to private FM broadcasters
The government has started issuing Letters of Intent to private FM broadcasters. Senior I&B ministry officials said that the process of issue of LoIs will be completed over the next couple of days. As per request of broadcasters the government has extended the period for furnishing of bank guarantee to 75 days as against 15 days as stipulated in tender documents.The government has also paved the way for entry of third party infrastructure support providers. Broadcasters need not set up transmission infrastructure of their own and have been allowed to use the facilities of infrastructure support providers. "Any third party, Indian or foreign, can offer infrastructure services. Ownership of transmitters have to be with broadcasters which can be serviced by third party," a government official said.
Wipro gets recognition for business excellence
Wipro Infotech has become the first hardware manufacturer to achieve the manufacturers' association for information technology (MAIT) Level-II recognition for business excellence. This will be presented on August four at the MAIT annual general meeting at new Delhi. Wipro Limited vice chairman Arun K Thiagarajan said, "winning the MAIT Level-II award once again highlights the benefits of Wipro's corporation-wide Six Sigma quality initiative that focuses on defect reduction and cycle time reduction in key business processes. "At Wipro we believe that quality should reduce cost, and we measure our progress in Six Sigma through financial benefits that the quality projects deliver to our business," he said.
Zee, Asianet rework deal
Zee and the Asianet management have decided in a meeting to amend the earlier partnership into strategic alliance which will have the following arrangement. Zee will distribute and maximise the value of the rich content, which Asianet has been able to create both globally and in the domestic market. Zee will extend all expertise and know-how to Asianet for it to grow and expand in Malayalam language, through its digital expertise and strong distribution strength. Zee will not compete with Asianet in Malayalam language, in turn Asianet will not sell its business to any competing platform/company, though it is free to bring minority investors.
Assured supply of HP consumables for govt depts
In the first of its kind initiative for the Government Sector, Hewlett-Packard India on Wednesday announced a strategic alliance with Kendriya Bhandar for the sale of their Printer Supplies (cartridges used in HP's Deskjets, OfficeJets and Laserjets). Under this initiative Kendriya Bhandar will provide Government orgnaisations convenient access, assured availability of HP Printer supplies with the added facility of immediate replacement. Besides, it offers prices protection on supplies against fluctuations up to 15 per cent in the market place. The program is currently operational at the Central Store in Connaught Place and will soon be extended to all the 70 outlets of Kendriya Bhandar in the Capital. The program will encompass outlets in other cities by the year-end.
DFHI launches own Website
Discount and Finance House of India Limited (DFHI) has launched its own Website which can be accessed at `DFHILtd.Com'. The Website will contain and information regarding the company's profile, branch network, services provided by the company, historical money market rates, press releases, weekly journal and booklets published by the company, etc. Through this Website, queries relating to money and government securities market raised by the users will be responded immediately, a DFHI release said.
