Coimbatore auto exhibition tokick off today

Ajit Kumar V
Coimbatore, Aug 2: As the first mega auto show in south India takes off on Thursday morning, Coimbatore will have a proud place in the automobile map of the country - overdue for a city of auto enthusiasts and a major auto ancillary manufacturing base.

Some leading automobile and component manufacturers across the country will form part of over 100 exhibitors showcasing their products at the Auto Focus 2000, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) jointly with the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (Acma) and the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (Siam), to be held in Coimbatore from August 3-6 at the Cointech Trade Fair Complex. Auto Focus is touted by the organisers as the first largest automotive show in the southern part of the country.

"Participants can access the fastest growing automotive markets in south India. Coimbatore was chosen for the show because of the city's strategic location and access to various markets in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. It is also a city of auto enthusiasts and some major auto ancillary companies are located there,'' said Auto Focus 2000 chairman L Ganesh. The show is expected to attract around five lakh consumers in a radius of 150 km during the next four days.
