Australian industry urged to increase co-operation with India on IT

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
Sydney, Aug 03: Australian industry has been urged to increase co-operation with India in Information Technology since the latter is all set to become a global IT leader with its talented labour pool and vast domestic opportunities. "The last decade has been a case of lost opportunities. It is time that both Australia and India take advantage of the strengths of their IT industries and complement each other," chairman of Fujitsu Australia Neville Roach said while addressing an IT seminar organised jointly by the Consultae General of India and Forum of Indian IT companies here. "India has more to offer Australia than the other way round and it is time for the Australian industry and businesses to get serious about India," Roach added.

In his keynote address Joint CEO of Kerry Packers' Consolidate Press Holdings - which has recently invested $400 million in India - Ashok Jacob said: "India's truly extraordinary education system which you can only comprehend if you have experienced it personally, is tailor made for supplying the bulk of global labour pool in what will surely soon be the world's largest and fastest growing industry by market value".

The domestic Indian market in certain sectors offered statistics which were almost unbelievable for those who operate in more mature markets, he said adding opportunities in India paled in comparison to the global IT story.
