Task force for IT HR development

New Delhi, Aug 03: The Government has constituted a nine-member task force to prepare a long-term strategy for human resource development in information technology. It will be headed by HRD minister Murali Manohar Joshi. Other members of the panel will be the Union finance minister Yashwant Sinha, minister of IT Pramod Mahajan, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Karnataka Chief Minister, SM Krishna, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Digvijay Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Ram Prakash Gupta, Indian Institute of Technology director V Raju. Secretary in the department of secondary and higher education will be the member-secretary.The secretaries in ministry of IT, and departments of telecom, expenditure and scientific and industrial research will be the permanent special invitees. The panel will draw up a plan to optimally use the existing infrastructure of the IITs, RECs, other engineering colleges and educational institutions to double their student intake in IT from the next academic year. It will also recommend modalities for achieving mutually beneficial cooperation between educational institutions in IT in the formal sector and those in the private sector. The task force will submit its interim report on how to optimise the intake at IITs and RECs within a month and a final report on the remaining terms of reference within three months.
