Infosys forges alliance with Evolving Systems
Infosys Technologies Ltd has forged an alliance with Evolving Systems to assist the latter in expanding its lead in Local Number Portability (LNP). Infosys has formed a project team within its offshore development centre. The company is currently deploying a staff of about 35 which is focused on features, enhancements and maintenance of core telecom technologies in close co-operation with Evolving Systems' internal staff.Symantec Corp, Ilantus form partnership
Symantec Corporation and Ilantus Technologies have announced a joint partnership programme under which Symantec Corporation's products can be used at client sites to manage and implement security solutions. Symantec India country manager Joy Ghosh said " the partnership was in keeping with the objective to offer world-class Internet security solutions in conjunction with superior services to more and more customers across the country", according to a press release.
Modi Entertainment to distribute DD Sports
Modi Entertainment Network (MEN) on said it had entered into a landmark agreement with Doordarshan to distribute and monitor its sport channel, which is soon going to be made a pay channel. This agreement follows another one already reached between MEN and Doordarshan on promotion and monitoring of all DD channels DD1, DD2, DD News and all DD regional services, an MEN statement said in Mumbai on Thursday. "The main reason behind this venture is that DD Sports is the only national sports channel with exclusive rights to several international and national events that make it even more watchable," director of MEN Lalit Modi said.
Samsung India unveils TV Net appliance
Samsung India Electronics Ltd, on Thursday announced the development and launch of the Samsung TV Net Appliance, a set-top-box (STB) to access the Internet through a standard television and telephone line. Being launched in joint collaboration with Jadoonet.com Ltd, pioneers in Internet Access Devices in India, the Samsung TV Net Appliance will be retailed through all India dealer channel.
SGI, Intergraph to form alliance
SGI and Intergraph Corporation have announced concurrently in Mountain View, Califronia, USA and Huntsville, Alabama, USA, that they intend to form a strategic alliance that allows both companies the benefit of each others top line products and expertise. Under the proposed alliance, Intergraph plans to purchase $100 million in SGI TM products and services over three years. In addition, SGI will acquire certain assets from Intergraph Corporation, including Intgergraph Computer Systems' award winning Zx10 family for Vizual workstations TM.

Wireless standards war: Will CHTML outdo WAP?
The fate of WAP as a standard that will gain mass acceptance will be decided in the months to come, according to Gartner analyst, Bertrand Bidaud. Speaking at the `Gartner E-Reality Summit' Bidaud referred to the deal between AOL and NTT, whereby AOL will use NTT's CHTML standard for its wireless strategy, as a turning point in the fight for marketshare between standards for wireless.
