Kochi: Network Systems and Technologies, part of the Rs 500-crore NeST group of companies, has ventured into the wireless application protocol terrain by announcing its plans to position itself as a one-stop-shop for all WAP solutions.NeST's managing director N Jehangir told eFE in an interview that as a world class software solutions provider NeST will take advantage of the emerging trends in WAP technology. NeST is a quality software solutions provider and has a CMM Level-5 certified facility at TechnoPark in Thiruvananthapuram.NeST has already developed a range of WAP solutions for personal finance, tourism, entertainment and other market segments. These solutions have been developed by a team of engineers at its CMM-Level-5 certified facility in Thiruvananthapuram, said Jehangir. The company is concentrating both on the domestic and international markets.
Jehangir said that the company expected to market its WAP application suites through its offices in Japan, the United States, Australia, the UK and the Middle East. "WAP is an excellent start," said Jehangir and added, "NeST's entry into the wireless market is synergistic to its corporate goal of playing a big role in futuristic developments."
NeST is known as a provider of advanced technology-based solutions such as real time process control, manufacturing automation, embedded software, device drivers, broadband communication and web-enabled ERP systems.In the communications hardware sector, NeST range of products is marketed worldwide. The company exports about Rs 150 crore worth of hardware for networking, fibre optics and wireless communications. NeST's biggest customers are in the USA and Europe.
NeST has also one of the largest manufacturing facilities in the world for fibre optic splitters at the Cochin Export Processing Zone. The company also plans to introduce advanced fibre optic communication systems for the first time in the country, said Jehangir.
