Sensex to face selling pressure around 4450 pts

Deepak Singh Tanwar
Aug 08: Thanks to Infosys, the market showed a smart recovery, and the Sensex gained 116 points. The main booster was Infosys, which gained more than 15 per cent. Satyam Computer also gained 10 per cent. Other software stocks also showed significant improvement. For the Sensex, this rally is a major relief, but the index is still below an important resistance of 4380 points. The gap which it formed on last Monday will continue to haunt the sentiment. And the Sensex is likely to find selling pressure at around 4450 points - the start of the downgap.

Individually, HLL remained dull on Tuesday and appears mixed. It has a small base at Rs 246, and is likely to move sideways in the short-term.Infosys has done well, and the sentiment may give a further boost the price in the short-term. It should find strong resistance at around Rs 8000.Satyam Computer has also rallied smartly but the short-term outlook is yet to show signs of an improvement. THe stock is likely to face strong resistance at around Rs 500, and the medium-term outlook will improve only above this level.

For Reliance, immediate base exists at Rs 330, and the next support is at around Rs 324. The outlook is not very promising at this juncture.ITC have moved in a narrow range for the last two trading sessions. It has a base at Rs 770 which can be used as a stop loss for short-term long positions.

L&T has also moved above its short-term resistance, and has made a minor base at Rs 214 which can be considered as a stop loss for long positions.SBI is yet to cross its resistance of Rs 204 properly. The outlook will weaken below Rs 198. MTNL has also making an attempt to make a base. The outlook will improve above Rs 177.The outlook for Zee Tele, however, is far from impressive. The stock has shown a weak close, and the position would weaken further below Rs 378. As far as the software sector is concerned, stocks like DSQ Soft, SSI, Wipro, and Satyam Comp have shown a rally which was accompanied by a huge jump in volume. This is a good indication but fresh long positions can be taken only after a reaction.
