Kores ties-up with Gehrer AGto market security products

Mumbai, Aug 8: Kores (India) Ltd has entered into an alliance with Switzerland-based Gehrer AG for marketing the latter's security systems for the transport of money and valuables in the country.

"The range of products on offer by our security products division are such that they will facilitate the protection of valuables during transit as well as decrease the threat to life," company chairman and managing director SK Thirani said.

The products were aimed at banks for securing their cash-in transit, courier companies undertaking bulk cash and valuables transit as also the jewellers and diamond merchants, Gehrer AG founder Kurt Gehrer said.

The variety of products include electronic security briefcase with features such as one with a portable safe and with money collection slot, valuables transport box with electronic lock protection and one man cash-in-transit system.

A briefcase security system would cost anywhere upwards of Rs 50,000 while the more sophisticated varieties boasting global positioning, tracking and remote triggering would be priced in the range of Rs 2 lakhs to Rs 4 lakhs, Thirani said and pointed out that customs duty for such products was a stiff 60 per cent.
