Geeta Nair
The $100 million Inteliant Corporation, USA has started operations in India through its 100 per cent subsidiary in Pune. Inteliant is the IT arm of the $350 million SOS Staffing Services.

To grow at a rapid pace and expand the development centre in Pune, Inteliant will be looking at the acquisition route, Sunil Poddar, managing director of Inteliant Corporation, India said.

The Pune development centre is Inteliant's first venture outside the US and the company will be looking at tie-ups and acquisitions to grow. The Pune centre will be dedicated to doing work on Inteliant's US business. Since 1998, Inteliant had been recruiting heavily from India following which the the company decided to have a presence in the country, Poddar said. The Indian operations have already started working on a pilot project. The company is into e-business solutions, technology infrastructure and communications providing end-to-end operational support systems solutions for carriers and service providers.

Poddar was managing Inteliant's Internet technology group in Sunnyvale, CA. He had co-founded Aquas Inc in Silicon Valley in 1995 which developed the first Java product for Web analysis. This technology was licensed to Oracle, Cisco, Exodus and US Web. The Web consulting division of Aquas was acquired by Inteliant Corporation in 1998.
