Consumer confidence index falls marginally
Indians are most concerned about employment generation and most optimistic about regular income, according to the latest survey by Mastercard International. On a scale of zero to 100, India received 80.3 points for regular income and 40.9 for employment during the coming period of December 2000-June 2001.MRTPC issues notice against Nestle
The Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission has issued a notice against Nestle India for selling less than the stated quantity of coffee in 50 GM sachets of its Nescafe brand. The action followed a complaint by Consumer Education andResearch Society. Tests carried out by CERS on 50 GM sachets of four brands of instant coffee - Nescafe, Sunrise, Tata Cafe and Bru - at its comparative product testing laboratary here revealed non-compliance in weight in the case of Nescafe, the Society said in a press note.
Maruti Union threatens to cut output
The employees Union of Maruti Udyog Ltd has threatened to cut down production by 53 per cent to base levels if the management fails to implement the "promised incentive scheme" for achieving higher productivity levels. Stating that revision of incentives has been due for around one and a half years, the Maruti Udyog Employees Union (MUEU) alleged that the company management was resorting to pressure tactics.
Singhania is new Raymond chief
The Raymonds board on Monday approved the appointment of Mr Gautam Singhania as the new chairman and managing director of the Raymond Group. He takes over from his father Mr Vijaypat Singhania, 62, who stepped down as executive chairman. A company release said Vijaypat Singhania will continue as chairman emeritus of Raymond at the board's request.
Jet bags nod to fly Mumbai-Kolhapur
Jet airways has been given an in-principle clearance to commence its Mumbai-Kolhapur service by operating its newly acquired 62-seater ATR from April, 2001. The company will soon send high level members of its Pune-based technical team to Kolhapur.
M&M to launch new Bolero versions
Following the encouraging response to the newly launched diesel version of Bolero in a short time, utility vehicles major M&M has decided to go for petrol model in six months' time, company executive vice-president, marketing, RM Cursetji said.
PNB ventures into gold business
Punjab National Bank has launched a gold import scheme. The gold will be imported through an arrangement with Commerzbank, said Mr P.K Gupta, general manager, international banking of PNB.
HDFC MF seeks Sebi nod
The board of HDFC Asset Management Company Ltd has recently approved a proposal to start portfolio management services and is awaiting Sebi registration to commence business, its managing director Milind Barve said here on Wednesday.
