TMG Enter, an analog free to air channel dedicated to technology, on Tuesday formally launched its hourly programme in Hindi - E Samvad - at a press conference here. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Subhanjan Sarkar, chairman, Technology Media Group (TMG), said that this programme was a commitment to the nation. He added: ``It's a step towards leveraging technology and making it available to the common man.''E Samvad, which is already on air, features E Samachaar, E Karobaar, E Rozgaar, E Jankaari and E Zindagi. The various components of the programme represent technology news, business aspect of technology, career information and review of Internet sites.
This exclusive IT programme in Hindi is telecast three times a day every day. Talking about the programme, Mr Sarkar said: ``E Samvaad serves up an array of IT topics all presented in a language that is simple and easy to comprehend for the Hindi speaking masses.''
Observed Mr Sarkar that there's a great divide between those who are IT-enabled and those who are not. And this great divide was primarily based on the knowledge of English language. Realising that IT revolution should not be language-based, Mr Sarkar planned a Hindi programme, which was launched on Tuesday.
TMG would gradually have programmes in other languages also, said Mr Sarkar. Within the next 12 months, there would be programmes in languages from the East and the South, he said. The channel's other plans include major Internet initiatives, which would be revealed in the next few weeks.
Tracing the growth of the channel, Mr Sarkar said this 24-hour technology channel had begun as a 15-minute IT programme on Doordarshan in 1996. It then went to become IT Hour, the only daily prime time programme on IT on CNBC Asia in June 1998. The IT Hour, he said, was now a known brand in the industry.
Taking IT Hour to new heights, TMG is now dedicating the month of October to the IT industry in India. Starting October 1, more than 400 IT companies would be showcased on the maga event - Techfair on Air - on the channel.
