Copenhagen, Sept 26: Opponents of Danish membership in the EU's single currency, the euro, saw their lead over supporters slip to five points in a fresh Megafon opinion poll published by national TV2 news on Tuesday morning. Denmark will hold a referendum on Thursday on whether to join the euro or not. The morning version of the twice-daily poll of some 1,000 people compiled until late Monday by Megafon research institute gave euro opponents 47 per cent while supporters scored 42 percent and the rest were undecided. Megafon's Monday evening poll gave euro opponents a six-point lead over supporters, down from eight points Monday morning and 11 points on Sunday. In referendum week, TV2 news will publish fresh Megafon opinion polls twice a day, at 0500 GMT and at 1700 GMT.Copyright © 2000 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
