NSE, BSE settle September futures

Mumbai, Sept 29: The trading in the recently launched Nifty Futures on the Singapore Stock Exchange during the week remained confined mostly to one month contracts. The opening day saw the highest number of contracts at 97. The volume came down gradually as the week progressed. The value of contracts which was $2.43 million (Rs 11.16 crore) came down to $ 0.58 million (Rs 2.65 crore).

On NSE, trading during the week was confined to 1 and 2 month contracts. With the expiry of the September contract yesterday there was a single contract traded for December series on Friday. The highest traded value in Nifty Futures on NSE was recorded last week was on September 27 at Rs 7.96 crore. The highest value traded in the October series on NSE was on September 28 at Rs 6.53 crore. As witnessed earlier, liquidity in the 3 month contracts is very poor. BSE sources said the settlement price for September series which ended on Thursday was 4068.1 level of Sensex. All the outstanding positions at the end of the last day were squared off at the cut-off price. These sources added that 145 contracts were squared off by members while the balance 152 contracts were compulsorily squared off by the exchange to settle accounts for the September series.
