As part of its focus on the growing server market in the SMB (small-medium business) segment, Compaq India has announced the launch of its new server - Compaq Proliant ML330 to meet the networking needs of small workgroup environments.The server, positioned as an entry-level product, has been completely integrated at the company's configuration center in Bangalore.
The Proliant ML330 is priced between Rs 80,000 - Rs 1 lakh depending on the specific requirements.
Addressing the media, Compaq India director Enterprise Products Pallab Talukdar said while the sever was an entry-level model, it was positioned to function as an easy-to-use, reliable, one-way server at an affordable price.
Local integration of the server would also pass on the price benefit to the customers, Mr Talukdar added.
The Proliant ML330 is powered by Intel's Pentium III processor which had been built on the latest FCPGA (flip chip pin grid access) technology. The server also uses a Server Feature Board to provide ethernet, SCSI and video connectivity through a single riser card.
Clock speeds of upto 1 GHz can be supported on the server and it offers an internal storage capacity of upto 180 GB using 36.4 GB hard disk drives and memory expansion upto 2 GB.
The product has also incorporated other additional features including an intruder detection function, easy manageability and integration and remote manageability. As per the performance tests, the server is capable of peaking at 700 transactions per second.
