New Delhi, Oct 4: The workers union of Maruti Udyog Ltd (MUL) continued their six-hour tools-down strike for the second day on Wednesday and agreed to negotiate with the MUL management on Thursday to finalise the new incentive-based production scheme. The workers continued with the `two-hour each shift' strike, even as Maruti Udyog Employees Union president Dinesh Kumar sat on a fast unto death demanding revision of incentive-based production and pension schemes.
``The protests and strike are continuing today. The union general secretary Mathew Abraham, who has been fasting since Tuesday, has been removed to hospital,'' MUEU vice-president MS Taragi said here on Wednesday.
Mr Abraham stated that the union is willing to meet the management on Thursday to finalise the new incentive scheme. ``We are open to negotiations...we are waiting for the response of the management. If their attitude is positive, we will also respond positively. If it is negative, our response will also be the same.''
