Calcutta-Based Warner Multimedia Ltd, formerly Classic Global Finance Co, plans to produce feature films and music albums, the chief executive officer and managing director, Mr Jagdish Purohit said.The group has tied up with television channels like ATN World for producing and developing quality programmes and softwares.
"We are launching one music company, the repertoire of which will include 12 music albums of diverse genres and colours in the next 12 months. The company envisages to promote budding talent by launching fresh regional albums done by them. The albums will consist of Rajasthani folk and traditional songs," Mr Purohit said.
The firm will also release music albums in Bhojpuri and Bengali.Warner Multimedia and Nouveau Multimedia have joined hands for an Indo-Bangladesh joint venture. "This is going to be a big budget movie," he said. The picture will be directed by Mr Mohanji Prasad, a Bollywood director of repute.
According to Mr Purohit, the market for Bengali movies is quite impressive as Bengali ranks sixth in the world in terms of number of people speaking it. "We are planning to invest Rs 5 crore over the next couple of years," he said.
