The Bombay Dyeing list of major shareholders has thrown up several important names, which impart an interesting twist to the takeover drama being enacted by the company and the jute baron from Calcutta, Mr Arun Bajoria.

HLL clocks 16.1% growth in profit, 0.42% in sales

HLL on Friday announced flat third quarter results -- its net profit reported a less-than-expected growth of 16.1% on a dismally low net sales growth of 0.42% during the quarter. The poor show is due to the reduced volumes in low price portfolio and a general market slowdown.

Friday the 13th -- Sensex dips 109 pts, rupee at 46.35

BSE Sensitive index dipped another 109 points to touch 3714 points, even as the rupee hit a new all-time low of 46.43/45 against the dollar.

Gujarat Ambuja Q1 net dives 50% to Rs 25 crore

Cement major Gujarat Ambuja has registered a 50% slump in net profit for the first quarter ending Sep 30, 2000. The company has posted a net profit of Rs 25.06 cr as against Rs 50.05 cr for the corresponding period last year.
