Bangalore: Call it convergence. Leading players in convergent technologies and broadband network - Alopa, Amber and Ishoni Networks - have jointly set up base in Bangalore and named it `The Broadband Hub'. The three companies have collectively raised $250 million from Wall Street firms and venture capitalists. Alopa Networks would provide software across all networks. Amber would offer hardware solutions at the backbone and edge. Ishoni would be the application software provider to the end user. Ishoni Networks offers single-system-on-a-chip solutions with embedded network processor, voice processor and security processor. At the Broadband Hub, the company plans to develop protocols, digital signal processing, alternative OS, security software including firewall and VPN. Ishoni plans to introduce new chip products with complementary software to support the range. The company has targeted the lower-end home market in the US, Japan and Korea to market its products.
Amber Networks plans to open a research and development centre at the Hub. This would develop carrier grade IP infrastructure products for optical Internet. Alopa Networks would utilise the Hub as a marketing and business development centre for its new Metaserv product.
