Chennai: 3 Com India Pvt Ltd plans to aggressively tap the Internet services providers and the national long distance operators for furthering its business in the country. With rapid growth expected in these sector, the company is very bullish about its future prospects. "We plan to grow at 100 per cent during the coming year", said Mr Vijay Yadav, country manager, India. It has been estimated that the Indian arm recorded revenues of about Rs 140 crore last fiscal.India is a very important market for 3 Com, says Mr Yadav. The company would seriously evaluate using the technical expertise available in India for its worldwide operations.
It is currently working with two Indian companies for outsourcing its software requirements. It would also explore the possibility of setting up a development centre in India in the near future. Indian companies could look at developing application on 3 com's platforms, he said.
It has launched CommWorks - a multi-service architecture that allows customers to deploy large networks combining many media types into one unified networking environment. "This helps our customers provide value added services. Services such as fax over Internet can be provided by ISPs by plugging in an additional module", he says. With the commoditisation of bandwidth it is important for for ISP's to offer value added services which would differentiate one from the other. The company's customers among the Internet Service Providers include the Chennai-based Satyam Infoway, Caltiger and the Tata's ISP service.
