Aptech net surges 68.6% to Rs 25.3 cr in third quarter

New Delhi, Oct 23 : Aptech Ltd has registered a 41.3 per cent growth in its global revenue to Rs 188.16 crore for the third quarter ended September 30, 2000 from Rs 133.2 crore of the corresponding three months of the previous year.

The net profit of the company has gone up by 68.6 per cent to Rs 25.35 crore this quarter from Rs 15.03 crore of the previous year. Gross profit after interest but before depreciation and tax has recorded a growth of 61 per cent to Rs 38.61 crore in the third quarter this year as compared to Rs 23.98 crore of the third quarter of the previous year. The global revenue of the company from the software solution business has risen by 116 per cent this quarter from Rs 22.42 crore of the third quarter of the previous year to Rs 48.4 crore of the third quarter this year.

However, training revenue had gone up only by 22.5 per cent this quarter to Rs 135.59 crore from Rs 110.62 crore of the corresponding period of the previous year. According to a company statement, the growth in software solution revenue is mainly generated by Aptech Worldwide, the company's US-based subsidiary. Aptech's software business now accounts for 28.6 per cent of the global revenue, as stated in the release.

E-commerce may contribute 60% to revenues
Aptech expects 55-60 per cent of its total revenues to come from e-commerce alone next year. It will also pay $9.7 million over a two-year period to acquire Silicon Valley-based software firm Specsoft, Mr Natarajan said. It is expected to generate revenues amounting to $12 million this fiscal.Mr Natarajan added that payments for the acquisition were linked to the company's performance. "The valuation of Specsoft was 0.8 times its current revenue and has added a number of direct clients for us. We are expecting a profit of $1.2 million from it this year and $1.9 million in the next," Mr Natarajan said.
