Mumbai, Oct 23 : Geometric Software is planning to set up a subsidiary in Japan and is looking for acquisition in the US and other markets following the profit warning for the quarter ended September 2000 and resignation of its US sales subsidiary chief executive.The company, which has a sales office in Japan, is optimistic about that country's market.
"Japan is a very big market for us in the CAD/CAM software and for softwares for the manufacturing sector. With business from Japan expected to grow in the next few years, we would put up a subsidiary in future," Geometric Software managing director Mana Parpia told The Financial Express.He said by setting up a subsidiary there, they would feel more commitment to the customers.
In addition, the recent visit by the Japanese Prime Minister to India and his optimism about the Indian software industry have given them encouragement.
The company is also looking for acquisition of a software company in the US and other countries. "Earlier this year, we got two-three proposals, but they did not suit our requirements," he said.
