Jaipur, Oct 23: Noted Indian economist Dr Vijay Shankar Vyas has been elected President of the Asian Society of Agricultural Economists (ASAE).The biennial elections of the ASAE were held at the third conference of the Asian Agricultural Economists which concluded here on Friday.Dr Vyas is currently the chairman of the Indian Institute of Development Studies here. He has served as senior consultant at the World Bank and as director of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad.
Dr Yang Bo Cho of South Korea, who was elected general secretary, announced that the next conference of the Asian Agricultural Economists would be held in Malaysia in 2002 which would discuss institutional structure of agriculture in Asia in the context of globalisation.
