New Delhi : Broadband Internet Service Provider, Dishnet DSL, has found a strange partner in Delhi State Civil Supplies Corporation (DSCSC) to expand its cybercafes in the capital. First of the eight Dishnet hubs the company is planning along with DSCSC was inaugurated by the Delhi chief minister, Ms Shiela Dixit.As per a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two, Dishnet would open its branded Dishnet DSL hubs in eight premises of the Civil Supplies Corporation in various locations of the capital. The company would pay the corporation a revenue share of 15 per cent and would set up the hubs at its cost.
The hubs would initially run on ISDN lines with eight systems, but would be expanded to better capacity and leased lines later, a company spokesman told The Financial Express.
Dishnet already has nine hubs in the capital and 90 centres around the country. It claims a user base of one million including its dial up ISP services and branded Dishnet DSL hub users.
Dishnet DSL is planning a big foray as a broadband player in the Indian ISP market place. It has begun to implement DSL modems for big buildings and hotels. The first in the series of broadband service was commissioned in a five star hotel in Northwest Mumbai last month.
Dishnet has already signed up with 12 five star hotels in different cities. These include Regent, Mumbai, LE Meridian, Pune, the Leela in Goa and Mumbai, Guestline, Mumbai, Le Meridian, New Delhi and Goa, Intercontinental, New Delhi and Ashoka, Bangalore.
